Apple sponsoring FC Barcelona

By Usayd

The past saturday 20th of November during the soccer match of Barca-Real Madrid, Philip Schiller and Marc Ingla met secretly in the offices of F.C. Barcelona.

Shiller (Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing) presented to Ingla (vice president of Marketing of the F.C. Barcelona) supplies of the spectacular print of apple’s well-known symbol of the world in the shirt of the Barca. Apple is concretely to supply 22 million annual euros, plus incentives by gained through further promotions to get to the total of 27M.

The deal has excited the people of marketing at F.C. Barcelona, because it is an ideal mark for the sponsorship of the club. Just as much as the stamping of the logo on the shirt, as the slogan of company of Cupertino, “Think Different”.

They also solve the problem that other logos generated with complicated combination of colors on the shirts, and fit with philosophy that “makes the club” of FC Barca.

This deal, to take shape, the company’s logo will be added to the front of the F.C. Barcelona shirts
and also that Apple’s money they perceive by the sponsorship of his shirt, to be better than the highest at the moment, the Bayern Munich (Telekom) with 17M euros

I’m really impressed with Apple’s new initiative to get recognised in the footballing world!

Apple’s aggressive marketing strategy will not increase their market share until they improve their products for mainstream accessibility. Right now, Apple computers are overpriced and simply not suitable for the average consumer; they’re used mainly by graphic designers and professionals. Excepting the iPod, this advertising scheme has not been coupled with a development of products suitable for the people whom the advertising is aimed at! Do you think an average Barcelona soccer fan can afford to fork out £2,000 - £4,000 for a simple home computer?

Apple have spent a ridiculous sum of money in advertising and product placement over the past year. We would all have benefitted if they had put this money towards better use - the actual products.
