SWAT 4 Preview [ gamespy ]

SWAT 4 has reawakened something in us. Something we’ve missed since the days when we’d pile eight guys into a Rogue Spear map and play co-op all night. The return of the SWAT series, this time in the hands of Irrational Games (Freedom Force, Tribes Vengeance), looks to be shaping up quite nicely, as evidenced by the meaty beta preview we’ve had a hard time putting down this week… At the start of each mission, you’ll get a short audio briefing on the situation, as well as a basic map showing the layout of the building. Don’t expect exact blueprints of every location...

Bush Is Leading America Into War and Disaster

Once again, America is threatening world peace in a myriad of ways. First, the Bush team is going after Dr. Mohammad Al Baradi, the respected head of the IAEA, trying to oust him as head of the UN Nuclear Inspection Program. Everyone in the world respects Dr. Al Baradi, his integrity, his forthright statements and his knowledge of the nuclear development field; everyone, that is, except for the Bush team. Of course, the Bush team disrespects anyone who questions them or disagrees with them. Dr. Al Baradi is a man of integrity, and he will not give an inch to political or financial pressure. This...

Yahoo! Releases Firefox version of Toolbar

SlashDot reports: Yahoo started offering a beta version of its toolbar for the open source browser Firefox on Microsoft Windows on Wednesday, with versions for Linux and MacOS X following ’shortly.’ I think it’s safe to say most people use Google in their Firefox toolbar search field. Yahoo probably wants to get their foot in the door before it’s too late. It would be interesting if this was a result of user demand. And apparently this follows Amazon’s Firefox toolbar, which actually is a result of user demand. Cool, I hope Google releases an (official) firefox version...

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) said Tuesday that it plans to acquire Sybari Software Inc., which makes programs designed to protect business computer networks from viruses, worms and other threats. Terms of the deal, the latest in a series of security-related purchases by Microsoft, were not disclosed. Sybari is privately held but filed papers last year for an initial public stock offering. Redmond-based Microsoft is gearing up to release a set of antivirus software products that will compete with offerings from companies such as Symantec Corp. (SYMC) and McAfee Inc. (MFE) The Sybari acquisition will...

Although I didn’t really liked it, I was searching for a download of exeem lite again, to give it another try. The website of exeem lite didn’t contain anything of exeem anymore… All I found was fileseeker. Apparently Exeem doesn’t contain any spyware anymore. This is what I found on the official site: In this release you will not get any mandatory third party software installed with eXeem. Yeeeey, or not? When I went to look for a download of the official exeem on Fileforum.betanews.com, I found a comment of a user who found that Anti Spyware programs no longer dectect...

Digital guru floats sub-$100 PC

Nicholas Negroponte, chairman and founder of MIT’s Media Labs, says he is developing a laptop PC that will go on sale for less than $100 (£53). He told the BBC World Service programme Go Digital he hoped it would become an education tool in developing countries. He said one laptop per child could be ” very important to the development of not just that child but now the whole family, village and neighbourhood”. He said the child could use the laptop like a text book. He described the device as a stripped down laptop, which would run a Linux-based operating system, “We...
