Faster Broadband. Better Value.
By UsaydHmm so I opened a letter today and what a surprise, another annoying BT Broadband letter boasting about what they have to offer using the technical terminology as if they were explaining it to a two year old.
Well what do I find?
“Since BT Values your custom, we’re always looking for ways to give you a better broadband service and great value for money…”
Hmm sure you are…
Four times as fast for no extra cost
“With your Bt Broadband package your like will be automatically upgraded from 512kb to our new superfast 2Mb service…”
Now there’s something, very interesting. I’ve been trying to switch away from BT for quite a while - and this hasn’t in any way influenced my decision. Though it hasn’t affected me yet, here is the reason reading down the letter:
A fair policy on usage
“…BT has a monthly usage policy…your new 2Mb service comes with the same 15 gigabyte (GB) monthly usage allowance..”
Well some may argue that this is more then enough, well good for them, it’s not for someone using quite a few computers and running a server!
OOo I just found some more great news about the limit [btbroadband website]:
6. What happens if I exceed my monthly usage allowance?
In the unlikely event that you exceed your monthly usage allowance (remember these are more than enough for the vast majority of users) the speed of your connection will be reduced to 150kb until the start of the next month, when you monthly usage allowance will be reset.
If you exceed your usage allowance you will have three choices; you will be able to continue to surf and download at a reduced speed of 150kb - that’s still three time the speed of dial up - for the remainder of the month, or you will be able to top up you usage allowance on bt.com by purchasing additional capacity at £1.95 per 1GB unit, or alternatively you may wish to consider upgrading to a higher usage capacity package.
That’s all from me!
