Google and April 1

Well, I’m back from Rome and do I have news for you :p

When I checked my gmail I noticed that I was using 18 MB (1%) of my 1164 MB ?! Wasn’t it 1000MB? I then saw the new features tag, clicked it, and saw gmail is giving everyone one more gigabyte! At the moment of writing, I already have 1271 MB. Another new feature is rich text formatting (finally).

From the official site:

G is for growth

Storage is an important part of email, but that doesn’t mean you should
have to worry about it. To celebrate our one-year birthday, we’re
giving everyone one more gigabyte. But why stop the party there? Our
plan is to continue growing your storage beyond 2GBs by giving you more
space as we are able. We know that email will only become more
important in people’s lives, and we want Gmail to keep up with our
users and their needs. From Gmail, you can expect more.

We’re not in the plains anymore
Fonts, bullets and
highlighting, oh my! Gmail now offers rich text formatting.
And over 60 colors of the rainbow.
Discover a land of more than just black and white. Learn more

At first I thought this had to be the April 1 joke, but it couldn’t be since my inbox WAS growing, and the rich text feature was there… so I started to look further, and what did I find… Google Gulp (BETA)â„¢ with Auto-Drinkâ„¢ (LIMITED RELEASE). A line of “smart drinks” designed to maximize your surfing efficiency by making you more intelligent, and less thirsty. And guess twice: it’s an invite only drink :D you can only get it, when you know someone who already drank one :D
