Google Web Accelerator

G web acceleratorYou’ll never believe this: Google launched a free web accelerator application for IE and FireFox!
How it works? from the faq:

How does Google Web Accelerator work?

Google Web Accelerator uses various strategies to make your web pages load faster, including:

  • Sending your page requests through Google machines dedicated to handling Google Web Accelerator traffic.
  • Storing copies of frequently looked at pages to make them quickly accessible.
  • Downloading only the updates if a web page has changed slightly since you last viewed it.
  • Prefetching certain pages onto your computer in advance.
  • Managing your Internet connection to reduce delays.
  • Compressing data before sending it to your computer.

I don’t know what to think, where does Google get these ideas?!

*EDIT*
I’m impressed, I must say. I didn’t actually believe it would speed up things, but it does! (or my internet works faster today). And, another thing I was afraid of, it doesn’t look a ugly as in the screenshot above. I mean, it isn’t placed on such a bad way. As you can see in this screenshot.
