I meant that Bush hardliners (who voted for him) wouldn’t be in the least motivated to listen to your views because of the fact that you called them imbesiles. Sorry should have phrased that different.

I simply believe that when someone seems to speak out the truth people are brainwashed into believing that they are always wrong.

Well, you’re right in a way- there are those that, by default, ignore what they don’t want to hear, which is foolish. But there are also those that take what the same people say without questioning it entirely.

Oh, so we’re taking sides now? I thought the whole idea here was to unite people! Hmm, I’m on nobody’s side. I’m a Muslim, and I’m with the Muslims, but I like to have a clear idea of where we’re going as an Ummah, and give advice where I feel I know enough to give it. Ofcourse, I know I could do more and I’m not perfect or anything, but why, what are the choices?:grin:

Unless you think everyone in the US actually voted bush. Anyway you are entitled to your opinion, I simply believe that when someone seems to speak out the truth people are brainwashed into believing that they are always wrong. Sure they may not be perfect, but when someone opposes, or try’s to reveal the truth about Why people are dying across the world, i’m all for them.
I know it would be almost hyprocritical saying this, but Qasim, in Bush’s words - Which side are you on?
Finally if you have such great views over Michael Moores, which i’m sure you do (!), why not share them with us InshaAllah?

Comparing the president to a citizen is quite a mistake, I doubt that you would have done anything about the disaster either.

Firstly, you can’t call Moore a mere ‘citizen’. He’s moulded himself a firm opponent of Bush, his policies and actions. So naturally, people look up to him to do better, and to further point the finger at the presidencies mistakes, which is his job apparently. He’s never going to really change much that way.

Secondly, you’re comparing me to Moore? I haven’t make it my job, so I think that claim really is invalid and thoughtless.

Going off the hurricane case, Moore contradicts his own apparent ideals. You and so many others are refusing to see through a documentarian’s bias. EXAMPLE- He condemns capitalism for driving out competition. It’s not capitalism that is doing it, it is the consumers.

There’s a certain point when you have to stop pointing the blame at others and fight the corruption yourself. People these days are dieing for instant gratification to the world’s problems, they need a clear answer and don’t look far enough and in all directions for the truth. That’s why Moore has become so popular. Sure some of the problem lies with governments, but people power needs to be there to fight it.

We as Muslims are only waking up to this now. It’s all too easy to cite Bush is vilifying Islam globally, but we were doing nothing out there to counter his claim at first.

Bush is no ordinary man. You say he’s a stooge well yeah, okay. We could also think about the imbesiles who voted for him which is what the letter addresses.

Michael Moore was never meant to be funny either. He is an honest person out of the population of america and this letter is no joke about a disaster - its a serious issue about what is going on over there.

Just my opinion that Michael Moore doesn’t need to twist anything that George Bush does or say, or the American government does or say because its all there for everyone to see!

Why can’t he get away from this constant slander of just the President, applying what an ordinary man does in times of disaster and twisting it to make it sound like he’s stupid. The mistakes lie with the government as well as him.

Bush is a stooge, we all know that. He just signs the decisions others make. But I wonder what Moore was doing at the time of disaster? For all we know he was lieing down on his couch eating pork rinds, not organising his help team. He didn’t wite that down did he?

I don’t even find him remotely funny anymore. Much of the stuff he’s produced has been solidly proven wrong, and at the end of the day, who can joke at a disaster?
