Synopsis

“The title “Two Worlds” comes from the idea of a ‘first’ and ‘third’ world existing in the same place. Last summer I travelled to South Africa with a UK-based volunteering programme. When I arrived I wasn’t struck by the presence of impoverished communities. What impacted me, however, was the proximity of these communities to the South African ‘first world’.” Learn More

The Project

Two Worlds consists of a documentary-film, 26 minutes in length. This is made up of 22 interviews, 8 shot in South Africa and 14 shot in the UK, interspersed with footage from experiences and travels in South Africa.

The website ‘thetwoworlds.net‘ was also part of the project, produced as a platform to give greater context and reference points to the documentary. It features profiles of all the interviewees, as well as journals written whilst travelling South Africa. Soon it will also host the full documentary-film for public viewing.

Four Letter Word – Mona ft. Tarik

The project is based around a young mans struggle to come to terms with his individuality and autonomy. It will use imagery to display a range of emotions and undertones to depict the reality of his life. The video will follow him through a journey, with the music and audio forming the “soundtrack to his life.”

What we did:

To get the project running as quickly as possible, we immediately registered a domain and designated web hosting for the campaign. We then proceeded to install a content management system and start designing an appropriate theme for the website. We also set up email accounts for the group to communicate the message effectively using the popular Google Apps system, and installed a tracking system to the website so that the campaign can see what attracts interest in the campaign. We are now hosting and maintaining the campaign website.

It’s the 15th Anniversary of the charity ‘Families Relief’. They approached Usayd Networks looking for a complete package to introduce a fresh look for the charity to launch the year’s ‘save the orphan’ campaign and their nationwide tour.

What we did:

We started by introducing a new branding scheme whilst retaining the familiarity of the charity. To do this we proposed a number of varying logos, complete with taglines. Each using different fontsets and colours to allow the client to choose the best bits from each:

Once the client was happy with the new brand, we proceeded to supply them with suitable template files to be used for official communication.

We then moved onto print and web media simultaneously, starting with the production of posters (A3), flyers (A5), web (500px) and tickets.

We also made a number of other print media items including adverts for emel magazine and The Muslim News.

A website was produced dedicated to the anniversary and tour. Based on the scheme chosen, it is a fully content managed site with a massive array of features including a dynamic slideshow, multiple online donation carts, an interactive map and more. Following the success of the print and web publicity, Families Relief approached us with a new, exciting task. To create a TV advert to air on channels including Noor TV and Islam Channel promoting the tour. Using studio experts and equipment we were able to produce a refreshing 30 second advert:

The advert is currently playing on satellite television and is available on YouTube. We produced two final versions, one with a voiceover from the main artist Zain Bhikha.

And it doesn’t stop there! We’ve also produced animated banner adverts for websites to promote the tour and are continuing to work with Families Relief to bring their 15th Anniversary to life.

The website is fully dynamic, using a content management system with multiple levels of access.

We also provide their full web hosting package and a fully administered mail platform.

Live Market Clocks We created flash ‘market clocks’ which synchronise with a live time server as well as calculating the opening and closing times of the 5 major stock markets.

Live Interest Rates We also programmed a complex module which retrieves the live interest rates from the major markets.

RSS News We created a plugin to retrieve economic and financial news and parse it locally.

Newsletter Subscription A module was installed which enables newsletter subscriptions, with full backend support.

Shopping Carts We enabled Liquid Forex with the ability to sell their forex software by creating a custom shopping cart on the website.

We also implemented many other features including encrypted multi-level contact forms, new menubar rollovers and custom flash banners.
