Well today I played on the notorious Playstation portable and I actually wanted to find something terrible with it, but surprisingly I am very pleased with it.

I was playing “liberty city” and to my eyes the quality was just as good as the PS2, I am aware of the fact that many people who read blogs and who know just the slightest about PC will loath all forms of consoles, but you know what this is different.

I think that I could spend a whole day in the back of a car with one of these playing games or watching movies. I think by now most probably have seen the PSP on TV or even in real life, if you have seen it on TV well all I have to say is that it doesn’t do the PSP any justice, the screen is so much bigger than you could imagine but saying that the console itself isn’t too big.

I have thought quite hard to find some bad things on the PSP here is what I have come up with………………………….. …. …. ..umm.. no but seriously the only thing that I could think of well in my eyes is the fact that they use some crappy UMD, I think if I am right in saying that is stands for Universal Media Disk these are some small cassettes type CD’s which can fit in to the palm of you hand but they really do cost an arm and a leg. The only other bad points of the PSP is the things it doesn’t have (like the feature of being a mobile phone) which if it did have I would be sure to buy.

I think consoles are on the brink of a revolution if the PS3 is as good as the PSP, and I definitely think that Sony have got there act together…well I still disagree with putting multi-player games on consoles I think that ruins the experience. If you do have the money then definitely I am 100 percent behind you if you buy the PSP its a bargain in my view.

Well I don’t own a PSP so I cant talk about the long term experiences of a PSP e.g. malfunctions, glitches, overheats and warranty’s but still a great little toy. if you disagree with the PSP just because it is a “console” or a “Sony” play it first, or if you have played it and still disagree with any thing I have just wrote, write below.

IGN: The double agent aspect sounds like it’s more intrinsic to the game’s overall design than just the story plotline. Can you talk a bit about this?

Daniel Roy: You’re absolutely right! When we came up with the Double Agent concept, we thought long and hard on what it could mean for the gameplay, especially in the context of Splinter Cell. For instance, as a double agent, you will be given dual, sometimes contradictory objectives by terrorists and Third Echelon. For instance, you could be asked to plant a bomb by the terrorists, while at the same time having to sabotage it for the NSA. In some instances, these dual objectives lead to direct contradictions, and this is when you, as Sam Fisher, must make difficult, moral choices.

10 Whole years. I can’t believe it. Oh, by the way, i’m talking about the anniversary of the first Playstation – Yesterday was its 10th!

It makes me feel a whole lot older, how did ten years pass by like that! I remember the release of the PS1 which was a revolution in the console gaming world. I’m not gonna lie, I never owned one – but so many of my friends and relatives did that I might’swell have. I never was much of a console guy (pc all the way) but the Playstation certainly had its place in the worlds advancing video games market, and for that I pay my dues.

September 9th will go down as a day notorious in American gaming history. Two consoles launched on September 9th; one, which launched in 1999, was a failure that doomed a hardware manufacturer to a future of software production. The other, launched in 1995, is one of the most successful consoles in gaming history. But you’re not reading this to lament over the late Dreamcast, we hope. Instead, you’re here to read up and celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the PlayStation’s U.S. launch. Sony’s little grey machine that could is a decade old now, and its ripple effect over gamers, popular culture, and technology carries a profound legacy.

Now I won’t ruin for you their number one game, but it does bring back memories of the fun times I had on the PSone – especially the days of Tekken 3, what a game. It comes to show how far Technology is advancing and not only changing the gaming world, but also the political and even religious world around us.

They’ll totally loose their great speed and graphics by the end of 2005/beginning of 2006! I mean by then 3.2ghz will not exactly be great, and already 512MB Ram is sucky. What i’ve always said about consoles: They are just non-upgradeable pc’s for people who can’t afford to maintain a high specification of pc! Sorry but thats prettey much fact. I already have all of the things on the specifications of both of the consoles on my PC and I have done for like 2 years! A 20GB Harddrive is actually prettey pathetic, must say i’m dissapointed.

Design - Personally I think they both look okay. Nothing special about them, wow they’re both silver (thats so 2 years ago!). They probably look better then the original versions, but of course that is the idea! I’m not totally critical of consoles, and I do like to play on them but you have to be critical of both if you want to get a good opinion overall.

So there have been many claims but this seems prettey official:

Though the Register is also under the assumption that the Xbox 2 will be shown May 16 as well, rather than May 12 as reported in the story below.

As they are on the Xbox 2 front. A memo alleged to have leaked out of games publisher Electronic Arts earlier this year pointed to a late 2005 release date for Microsoft’s next console, codenamed ‘Xenon’. Next month’s launch notwithstanding, PS3 isn’t expected to ship until Q1/Q2 2006, so Microsoft could very well want to get in ahead of its rival will a release targeting the Christmas 2005 sales season. Comment made by other industry players, including Nintendo, suggests the business believes Microsoft will try to get in early.

Having not taken the chance to launch Xbox 2 at January’s Consumer Electronics Show or February’s Game Developer’s Conference, Microsoft has to be eyeing upcoming major games industry events of which E3 is by far the biggest and most important.

So look out for the 12-16th May!!

TOKYO–It appears Konami is working on a new installment in its Suikoden role-playing series. News of the development leaked Thursday in the online diary of veteran voice actor Makoto Terada, who mentioned clocking studio time for a Suikoden game.

“At noon, I recorded voices for a game named Suikoden (Konami). In the evening, I worked on an anime named Erementar Gerad, which will be starting in April,” Terada wrote in his blog.

Terada, who currently works under the pseudonym Mugi Hito, is known for his voice contributions to anime like Grappler Baki, where he voiced the character Orochi Doppo. But he also lent his voice to the role of Sigma in Capcom’s Rockman X4 and X6.

Suikoden IV, the latest in the long-standing franchise, was released for the PlayStation 2 on January 11 in the US. GameSpot will provide further information on any future Suikoden game as it becomes available.

The chip that will run the next version of the PlayStation video game machine will have nine processor cores and run faster than 4GHz, the chip’s designers revealed Monday.

Engineers from Sony, IBM and Toshiba revealed those and other specifications for the Cell processor during a press conference at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference, where technical papers on the Cell design will be presented this week.

The three companies have been working on Cell for several years, promising to deliver a high-performance chip optimized for multimedia applications. Test production of Cell chips is set to begin later this year, and the processors will appear later in workstation PCs optimized for animation and other graphics chores. The chip will also power the next version of Sony’s PlayStation game console, which is widely expected to be released late this year or early next year.

While analysts and researchers have already puzzled out most of the basic aspects of the Cell design, Monday’s announcements included some of the first specifics.

Cell will have a 64-bit IBM Power processor and eight “synergistic processing units” capable of handling separate computing tasks, said Jim Kahle, an IBM Fellow. The Power processor will act as the brain of the chip, running the main operating system for an application and divvying up chores for the other processors.

The eight “synergistic” processors are a step forward from current computing system designs, in which the graphics chip draws pixels and the central processor does everything else. The Cell cores have media-specific instructions baked in, but they are flexible and smart enough to handle nonmedia tasks, said Brian Flachs, an IBM engineer. “It represents an important middle ground between graphics processors and central processors,” he said.

The multicore design will give software developers tremendous flexibility, Kahle said, allowing them to run multiple operating systems on the same chip and experiment with variations on grid computing.
