Well, the summer’s finished. I can’t believe that my 2 month and 20 day holiday finished so quickly! I wrote about how chuffed I was about finishing and probably more importantly my plans for the longest holiday you get in your school life. Well, let’s analyze my list: Get a job? Yes, I got a job. I got the job right at the beginning of the holiday as a customer service agent at Sky, or at least that’s what they told me. Turns out the company I was working for were a bunch of liars and it was actually a sales position. Still it was okay as it was inbound (people calling...

FINISHED!

I’m so happy! My GCSE exams are over and my 2 month and 20 day holiday has started! I’m not even going to bother talking about those extremely tiresome exams, but I’m really going to make the best out of these holidays. Firstly I don’t want to be lazing around at home all holiday which I know is something that you can easily fall into at the beginning of the holiday and something which is also quite difficult to get out of. My plan: Get a Job! – Want to get experience on my CV and $$ of course Work on Usayd Network – That means this site and the upcoming FreePeace...

Making an Impact

Well, this officially the 500th post by the Usayd Network! We have reached our half a thousand milestone! I thought that a suitable topic for this would be talking about making an impact. We all know how important it is that we give a good impression of ourselves to others. For example, when we go perhaps for a job interview, or to talk to someone in a higher position then ourselves, we strive to leave them with a positive impression. We always seem to find that when we are with familiar company, our friends or our peers, we change our attitudes – and not normally in a good way. One of...

Send your name to pluto!

The first (unmanned) mission to Pluto is planned for Januari 2006. NASA will then launch the New Horizons spacecraft which will arrive at the planet about nine years later. The primary objectives are to characterize the global geology and morphology of Pluto and Charon, map the surface composition of Pluto and Charon, and characterize the neutral atmosphere of Pluto and its escape rate. Other objectives include studying time variability of Pluto’s surface and atmosphere, imaging and mapping areas of Pluto and Charon at high-resolution, characterizing Pluto’s upper atmosphere, ionosphere,...

The future of the car

Intelligence: Behold the All-Seeing, Self-Parking, Safety-Enforcing, Networked Automobile Radar, lasers, wireless radio networks and other embedded tech will enable our cars to sense faraway traffic and stop accidents before they happen. But who will be in the driver’s seat? Well again we seem to have heard it all, films that are based in the future like Minority report and iRobot seem to focus on such things as the future of the car. In iRobot you see that Will Smith has to put the car in ovveride to take control of it himself, and that the speed is amazingly enhanced then...

Rubber Wrist Band Scam

We have all seen them "wrist bands", originally designed as a fund raiser for charities. Wrist bands were originally given out free of charge from places like the "BBC" and "world vision" but recently people have been selling wristbands and the profit NOT ending up at the charities. The wrist bands have become so much of a fashion accessory that they are even being sold as "FASHION BANDS" which seems a pity seeing as they were originally for a good cause. Wearing a wristband has become a way of supporting a charity or a cause but too many people wear the...

The new egg fry!

Egg Frying Made Easy… without a stove The first week of college my RA gave me a citation violation, "CV," for trying to cook an egg on my portable open-flame stove. I thought I’d be smarter and I got a George Foreman grill. I decided to be the ass I am… and eat the egg in front of his face. I got another CV, this time calling it "Unsupported electronic device." Interested in the new way to fry your eggs? Check this out...
