I have been working pretty hard on the Islamic Praise plugin and I am already releasing a new version of the plugin.

There is now a much wider variety of images to choose from, 27 in total. I have commented the plugin file to make it easier for you to understand and customise and I have also updated the structure of the file itself a little. A demo page has now been set up to make it easier to see what outputs you will get when you enter the word.

WordPress 2.0.1

Finally WordPress 2.0.1 has been released. Why do I say that? Well because there were quite a few bugs with 2.0, 114 of which have been fixed with 2.0.1. Check it out.

edit apparently not, the /author/ bug still remains and my 200OK errors are still there. How annoying.

Both the 200OK messages and the /author/ bug were coming from the Permalink Redirect plugin which I was using. I updated it to the latest version but that only fixed the 200OK messages and not the /author/ problem. I have de-activated it now and everything is working fine.

Wikipedia Browser

Quite a cool thing from ‘Harold Hanek’, a Wikipedia browser. It basically allows you to browse Wikipedia faster online using AJAX technology.

Gollum is the name of my newest crime of invention. By reducing the complexity of information, I have created a fast and eyefriendly browser through the free encyclopedia “Wikipedia”. Originally this invention was built up for my daughter but now I have expanded it to the world for free as an open source project under GPL.

Hijri Date

I have recently been working on a new plugin. I started this plugin because it is the month of Ramadan in the Hijri (Islamic) calendar and I thought it would be nice to show what was posted in each month on the Hijri Calendar. Thankfully I had already acquired a script which calculated the hijri date using PHP in the past so my main aim was to implement this in the plugin to make it calculate the hijri date as well as the georgian date.

This plugin is a much more complicated one then my first ones; Random Hadith and Random Qur’an. I wanted to be a little ambitious so I made this new plugin have a few extra features.

WordPress Banned by Google for Spamming

As a wordpress user I thought this had to be reported:

“WordPress, an incredibly popular Open Source Blogging system was found to be spamming google by inserting hidden links to junk content on high paying Adsense keywords such as mesothelioma and debt consolidation. Following Threadwatch picking up the story an anonymous Google rep appeared in the original thread admonishing bloggers not to use sneaky tactics to rank highly for “duplicate content” such as the 100,000 hidden articles on the WordPress site. The articles have now dissapeared from Google and it remains to be seen whether Google will ban WordPress outright as they tend to do when SEO’s and web dev’s pull these kinds of stunts.”

Minimo – Aka Mini Mozilla, Firefox for Handheld Devices!
Finally a decent, open source browser, to replace the rubbish that is currently availiable for these devices. It has not yet been released but it seems to be coming on:

edit – I have actually tested the Browser, although it doesn’t work very well as of yet, I can certainly see its going somewhere!
